Making the jump from a shared hosting service to a virtual private server (VPS) can be a scary experience for website owns with no experience in managing their own server platform. Thankfully a VPS can ease the transition and managed VPS services are a great start. Whether you need a high-end server to support millions of visitors or a beginners VPS solution we have compiled an examined of the best fully managed VPS web hosts.
Site5 – Simple To Scale, Great Customer Service
Site5.com makes it simple for website owners to sign up for service and migrate (for free) their websites to its servers. I recently moved 10 websites to Site5 and the company’s tech support handled all of my migrations. Site5 will move up to 25 cpanel website or 10 non-cpanel websites at no additional charge.
The company’s basic VPS server starts at $55 per month and comes with 2 cores, 768MB of RAM, 35GB disk space and 600GB bandwidth. For that price users receive Cpanel support with Fantastico (one-click script installation) and 30 day snapshots of remote backup storage.
One of the best parts of Site5 is its awesome customer service that answers calls via phone, email and online chat 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have never waited more than a few minutes and in several cases my escalated tickets were answered in very short periods of time.
The best part? The company offers VPS scaling up to 16 cores, 20 GB RAM, 1000GB of disk space and 7TB bandwidth.
WiredTree – Managed VPS with LiteSpeed HTTP Server Availability
WiredTree offers a $69 plan that is not only managed, it features an Intel Dual Xeon processor with 8 CPUs. Also includes is 1GB SLM RAM, 120GB RAID-10 Disk Space and 3500GB Premium Bandwidth.
While Site5 offers a single IP (more can be purchased) for each server WiredTree provides users with 4 Dedicated IPs to start with.
Also available on WiredTree VPS services are the Fantastico and Softaculous, one script installers that can be purchased for $1 each per month.
My favorite part of WiredTree is its LiteSpeed HTTP Server capabilities which help scale server speeds.
Much like Site5 the team at WiredTree are top-notch and they implement server upgrades and setups very quickly.
LiquidWeb – A Company Specializing In Managed Hosting Services
LiquidWeb is a managed hosting company. The organizations emphasis on managed services makes it a great choice for users who might be inexperienced with VPS solutions. While I have not personally used LiquidWeb I have spoken with many users who love their services.
Starting at $50 per month users receive 1 CPU, 880 MB RAM, 75GB Disk Storage and 2 TB Bandwidth transfer.
While not the cheapest option LiquidWeb promises 30 minute response times and constant VPS monitoring.
Featuring automatic migrations, instant server setup and the ability to use solid state drives the LiquidWeb system is a stable eco-system worth a closer look.
