Amazon announced in a press release that it more than doubled its sales of the Kindle from last year. This includes all of the devices sold under the Kindle name. The record was not only for the Kindle itself, but the site said that it was the biggest Cyber Monday deal ever.
The updated Kindle that regularly sells for $159 was reduced to $129 for Cyber Monday. This may have partially influenced the massive sales, but other products were also selling. The Kindle Fire HD is the most wished for product on Amazon, according to the Amazon press release. It is also the most gifted item from the site and 9 of the 10 best sellers are associated with Kindle, either accessories or content along with the tablet itself.
Currently, Kindle has 7 products available in a wide range of prices. For those who only want an e-reader, they can enjoy the Kindle Paperwhite or the $69 Kindle that is considered the entry product. At the other end of the price range is the Kindle Fire HD 8.9” 4G at $499 with the best of power, storage, and connectivity.
Many items are backordered and will take 1 to 2 weeks to ship, but at this point everyone who has ordered a Kindle can expect to have it in time for Christmas. Amazon has not said if they plan to offer any more deals for the holidays yet. There are many advantages to owning the device, especially if you are a fan of the ebooks. With the Amazon Prime membership, you can be part of the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library with free books and no return dates. The online library is appealing to many users and one more thing to entice even further sales of the Kindle before the holidays are over.
