Apple’s iPhone 5 is already being touted as the best selling iPhone yet, and it seems that launches in other countries are only adding to that statement. Over the weekend, Apple made a big announcement about its iPhone 5 launch in China. According to the press release sent out by Apple, they sold more than 2 million units in the first three days that the iPhone 5 was launched in the country. This, in spite of the reflections of observers that the sales were rather disappointing – a day after the launch.

Head honcho Tim Cook is, understandably, happy about the outcome. He says that “customer response to iPhone 5 in China has been incredible, setting a new record with the best first weekend sales ever in China. China is a very important market for us and customers there cannot wait to get their hands on Apple products.”

Then again, China is such a big market with perhaps the most amount of other mobile phone brands available to consumers. With the wide availability of much cheaper Android mobile phones in the country, the impressive sales figures – in such a short period of time – may not be enough to keep Apple at the top of the marketshare in China.

But just so we won’t forget just how awesome the iPhone is, the Apple press release didn’t pass up on the chance to reiterate its features.

iPhone 5 is the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, completely redesigned to feature a stunning new 4-inch Retina® display; an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast performance; and ultrafast wireless technology*—all while delivering even better battery life.** iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features including: Shared Photo Streams, all-new Maps app, Passbook® organization and even more Siri® features and languages including Mandarin.

Highlighting the inclusion of Mandarin is, naturally, a requirement to gain the attention of Chinese consumers.

In other news, the iPhone 5 is also being rolled out in many other countries this month. By the end of December (this year, effectively), the latest iPhone is going to be available in more than 100 countries worldwide. This breaks records, with the iPhone 5 enjoying the distinction of the fasted rolled out smartphone in Apple’s history.
