Everyone is waiting with baited breath for Sony to reveal its newest handset, the Sony Xperia ZU. This will be Sony’s first “phablet”. Whilst we all wait, rumours are flying around and the latest news on the street is that the Xperia ZU is ridiculously fast.

The rumour is that the handset is said to come with a quad-core Snapdragon 800. In a benchmark screenshot posted on Esato, it recorded a result of 32,173 AnTuTu points. That is alot faster than other handsets that Sony’s rivals have out at the moment.

Sony Xperia Z

Sony Xperia, already a popular handset, is about to get a whole lot faster!

For example, an alleged Samsung Galaxy S4 variant, also with Snapdragon 800, came in at 31,491 points according to leaked benchmark tests. Even the more powerful version of the S4, which contains the octa-core processor, can’t beat the speed found in the Sony Xperia ZU. Sony clearly mean business.

Before everyone gets carried away though, we must remember that these tests can be faked. However if they are correct, then the Xperia ZU, although labelled a phablet, could be powerful enough to give even a fully fledged tablet a run for its money .

As well as incredible speed, the Xperia ZU is also rumoured to have a 6.44-inch full HD screen and HD camera.

It is hoped that Sony will reveal their new handset on June 25. We’ll be watching closely and bringing you the latest news as it breaks.
