Christian Bale isn’t the only actor getting ready to play a noteworthy “tech” person in an upcoming movie. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Returns, Looper, Inception, etc.) is preparing to take on the role of NSA leaker Edward Snowden in a forthcoming Oliver Stone flick. This movie will undoubtedly be controversial, and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that Oliver Stone is at its helm. Snowden continues to make news headlines as he seems to routinely release new information about how the government spies on its own people.
The as-yet-unamed movie will apparently be based on two different books which serve to document the events surrounding Snowden’s releasing of highly classified material to the press. It’s hard to think of a more notorious or controversial figure than Edward Snowden right now. He is currently residing in Russia in a state of temporary asylum, though how long he will remain there is anyone’s guess. It’s highly doubtful at this point if he’d ever choose to return to the U.S., as he is most certainly not a favorite citizen at the moment.
Some people see him as a hero while others see him as the worst kind of traitor. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
