If you’ve been on the internet for more than a couple of minutes in the past month, you’ve probably seen all kinds of articles detailing what the movie Back to the Future: Part 2 got right about the year 2015. (If you’re out of the loop, which hopefully you’re not, 2015 is the year Marty McFly and co. travel to when going into the future). The movie’s vision of 2015 is pretty amazing to say the least – there’s the hoverboard (one will soon be available!), the inflating jacket, all the different sequels to Jaws, and of course, the Nike shoes equipped with Power Laces. Late last year, it was reported that Nike wanted to release a shoe with Power Laces to commemorate the date when Marty McFly traveled into the future.
Well, I have good news and bad news. The good: they have confirmed that they are indeed working on the actual shoe with actual working Power Laces, and all patents have already been filed. The bad news: I have no idea when the iconic shoes will be released (except they’re aiming for sometime in 2015, of course) or how much they’ll cost when they finally do hit store shelves. No matter the cost, though, something tells me these shoes will have no trouble selling off of the shelves.
