I don’t know how you felt about them, but I was pretty impressed with J.J. Abrams take on the newest Star Trek films. I’ll be the first person to admit that I was a little hesitant to watch the first one after I saw the original trailer (where I saw laser-swords instead of phasers), but I quickly got over my fears when I finally decided to give the movie a chance. And while I really enjoyed the first movie, I was almost blown away by the second, with all its Khan goodness. I decided after that one that I was most definitely a fan of the new saga. But now, with Abrams leaving the Star Trek world to instead focus on the Star Wars world (yes, they are actually different worlds), I’m wondering what the third movie is going to look like as Justin Lin is set to direct the next installment. (In case you’re not familiar with Lin’s work, he’s the man behind the wheel of those Fast & Furious films; let’s just hope the new Star Trek won’t have anything to do with the Enterprise racing other starships).

Star Trek 3 To Release On Classic Show's 50th Anniversary

We’ll all have to wait a little while to see what the new film will look like, though, as it’s set to release on July 8th, 2016, which hard-core Trekkies will probably recognize as being just a couple months prior to the 60th anniversary of the classic Star Trek television show, which premiered in September of 1966.
