Sometimes your phone’s battery dies when you need it the most, and the best smartphone in the world can’t function without any power. (And is it just me, or does this always seem to happen when there’s no power outlet nearby?) So what do you do when this happens? You could borrow and use someone else’s phone, of course, but that’s a little inconvenient depending on who you ask, but now thanks to an Indiegogo project, you might just be able to borrow some power from someone else’s phone. It’s called the Juicer, and it looks like any other MicroUSB cable, but this one lets power transfer from one device to another, say from a smartphone to a tablet or from a smartphone to another smartphone. So, if one of your devices (or someone else’s) has a little extra juice, all you’d have to do in theory would be plug the Juicer into both devices and the one with a dead battery would pull a Lazarus.
As far as the charging rate goes, the folks behind the Juicer claim it’ll charge a device at the same speed it would normally charge if it was plugged into a USB port.
The Juicer is currently in an Indiegogo campaign where they’re trying to raise $65,000. As of this writing, they’ve been pledged $6417.00 with 51 days left to go. If you like the idea of the Juicer, you can pledge $10 and have one shipped to you when it’s ready which is actually a really good deal. But you’d better hurry, because those kinds of early-bird perks don’t typically last very long!
I for one think the Juicer sounds like a great idea. What do you think?
