Let me be honest for a minute here; I love Batman, and I love video games. So naturally, I’ve played several games featuring the Dark Knight over the years, and let’s just face it – some of them have been a lot better than others. I remember one for the Gamecube that I really wanted to love, but just couldn’t bring myself to play more than a few stages because of the glitches. Then there was one for the original Xbox that sounded awesome but didn’t have the game play to match it. If I remember correctly, I got stuck in an alley and couldn’t grapple my way out of it no matter what I did. If these were my only Batman video game experiences I’d be more than a little disappointed, but thankfully they came out with the Arkham games for the Xbox 360, etc. Arkham Asylum was a great game, although I tired of being on the island after a while. Arkham City took things up a notch and allowed Batman to explore a huge chunk of the city which was great. And while we’re not exactly sure what all the newest installment, Arkham Knight, has in store for us, we are sure of one thing: It will be the first game of the series to be rated “M” for Mature; the previous games were all rated “T” for Teen.

Batman Arkham Knight Goes Mature For The First Time

So, why the rating change? Game makers have stated it’s not because of excess swearing or a lot of needless blood, which leaves something in the storyline to blame. If you’ve read many Batman comics over the years, then you know there’s plenty of dark story lines to draw from. While no one’s sure exactly who the Arkham Knight is, there’s some speculation it could be none other than the Red Hood, also known as Jason Todd, a former Robin who was brutally murdered by the Joker when Batman was unable to save him. He came back from the dead and acted more like the Joker than the Robin of old. So, if that’s the case, there’s certainly enough ‘dark’ in the storyline to cross the gap from a Teen rating to a Mature rating. Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled to be released on June 2nd, 2015.

What do you think? Are you excited for this upcoming game?
