WhatsApp has been busy over the last few days releasing update after update of their instant messaging app. Today, WhatsApp 2.12.114 was released but this version is still currently in beta. Because the update is in beta, WhatsApp users cannot download the update from the Google Play Store, you have to go directly to the WhatsApp website to install the update on your Android smartphone. Tablets aren’t supported.

In order to install WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK Beta, you will have to uninstall the current WhatsApp  version on your smartphone. Once that’s done you’ll need to enable the “Unknown Sources” feature by tapping Settings >Applications or Settings>Security. What’s you’ve done this you can download the app and install it from WhatsApp by going to this link.

One of the newest improvements to WhatsApp is the ability to make voice calls to other WhatsApp users. Since the application runs on internet connection there aren’t any extra fees associated with calling someone in another country. However, the Voice Calling feature can use up a big chunk of internet data so if you don’t have a lot to spare, it’s being recommended that the users only use Voice Calling in “emergency” situations or when you’re connected to Wi-Fi.

This feature was originally unveiled with WhatsApp 2.12.109 APK Beta but the WhatsApp developers have supposedly improved this feature with the latest release making voice calling a smoother experience for WhatsApp users. Before the release of WhatsApp 2.12.114, users were complaining of calls lagging and dropping without any definitive reason. Other minor bug fixes were included with the update as well.

Remember, WhatsApp 2.12.114 is still in beta so you won’t find it in the Google Play Store. You’ll only find the most stable version of WhatsApp there. The WhatsApp version available in the Play Store (v.2.12.94) does include the calling feature, but even its Voice Calling feature leaves a lot to be desired. If you’ve already begun testing WhatsApp 2.12.114 APK Beta for yourself (including the Voice Calling feature) we’d love to hear about it in the comments.
