WinX DVD Ripper Platinum edition: Is it as good as previous incarnations?
In a word, yes, and then some!
Put simply, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a Windows based DVD ripping platform that lets you backup DVDs, rip, and copy them. It also has one of the most advanced and easy to use abilities to convert DVDs into just about any codec or playback mode going.
This means you can use it to convert DVDs into MP4 and format for almost any device going, from iPhones and iPads, to pretty much any Android phone to Kindle Fires and Chromecasts
Simple, and easy to use.
It comes with more than 350 ready-made profiles for playback on devices made by HTC, Samsung, and pretty much anyone who has manufactured a playable media device in the last 10 years.
With all these different file formats to play with, it’s easy to upload and edit videos from your DVDs to sites such as YouTube, or share them on other social media platforms.
WinX DVD Ripper Platinum also supports one of the widest range DVD copy protection I’ve ever seen, including the Disney X-project DRM, Sony ArccOS, and UOPs. It also not region specific, so that DVD you bought in Australia can be watched if you ever move to another country.
Fast, and pain free to use
Another thing that I really liked about the software was its support and use of multi-core and Hyper Threading, meaning that backing up DVDs was fast, and the finished product came with none of the errors or failures you so commonly find on a lot of DVD backup software.
Of course, while WinX DVD Ripper Platinum isn’t the only DVD back-up solution out there, and there are some open source competitors, you can’t really say they are in the same class as this piece of software. The user interface is clean, and even the more advanced features are simple and easy to use.
The best bit though…
The absolute gem in the crown here is without doubt the digital format conversion ability. Being able to format an old home video DVD for playback that fits my HTC 825 perfectly was a massive revelation. The fact I could do it with no frustration or mucking about and could do it in just a few minutes was a godsend.
So, there is a reason that WinX DVD Ripper Platinum seems to find its way to the top of most peoples lists when it comes to reviews. Put simply, if you still use DVDs, then you should be using this software.
*Please bear in mind when using this software that you must comply with whatever copyright legislation exists within your own particular legal jurisdiction. If it’s illegal to copy and rip protected media wherever you live, then it is illegal, and you shouldn’t do it.
