Increase privacy, security and control, with these five great web browsers.

Of course, all browsers can be considered ‘secure’, but there’s an ever-growing choice of specialised products that are specifically focused on the issue of user privacy, of handing back control to the user and opting out of the kind of data collection systems that underpin the likes of Google. All of which is music to the ears of many of us.

So, if you value privacy and control, there’s bound to be something here for you. And, as always, if you use a product you love and we’ve not listed it, please let us know in the comments section below. Enjoy!

Comodo

Comodo is available in two ‘flavours’: ‘Dragon’, based on Chromium and ‘Ice Dragon’ based on Firefox. Both offer all of features of their respective base-browser, but with an excellent additional level of security and privacy courtesy of Comodo. Comodo offers on-site malware scanning, secure DNS, SSL and domain validation, plus it blocks all tracking, cookies and web spies. An added bonus of Comodo browsers over some of the competition, is greater stability and less memory bloat. We really like its domain filtering system designed to limit exposure to problem domains of the sort favoured by dirty malware peddlers.
