With the launch of the iPad Mini, many other companies are going to be looking to improve their own technology to compete with the superstar. However, you can already find options if you don’t want to buy the Apple product. Many of them have similar features with some great additions while they leave out some others. It all depends on your priorities when you are shopping for 7-inch tablets.
Apple’s biggest competition is the current king of 7-inch tablets, Google Nexus 7. With its outstanding display, quad-core processor for fast operation, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, this is stiff competition for Apple. Add to that the fact that it has a lower price tag and it may be hard for Apple to steal this market. The Nexus 7 is just $199 for an 8GB device, but if you want 32GB, you still get a price you can handle at $249.
This is another tablet with a price similar to the Nexus 7. However, for that price you get 16GB of storage. You also get a long battery life at 11 hours a great screen resolution of 1280 x 800, a camera to video chat, and a microHDMI port. With the dual-band Wi-Fi, you can connect to the Internet almost anywhere.
This device will be out the first of November but it shows a lot of promise. With a high resolution screen at 1440 x 900, you can enjoy amazing videos. The battery life allows you to enjoy up to 10.5 hours of reading or 9 hours of video. It’s also lightweight and features a microSD slot for more storage.
This device is loaded with features at an affordable price. It includes a 3-megapixel camera and 8GB of storage that can be expanded. A 1024 x 600 resolution isn’t the top of the line but it does provide decent viewing. It runs on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and features TouchWIZ interface from Samsung.
Whether you are looking at price or features, you have several options outside of the iPad Mini for a great 7-inch tablet. The challenge may be deciding between the iPad Mini alternatives.
