Microsoftâs last effort to get a piece of the smartphone marketâs revenue was Windowâs Phone 8. The phone was first launched in the U.S. last November The company sold a few million Lumia 920s and boosted last yearâs holiday sales. Now it looks like Microsoft has a similar plan for this yearâs.
According to a recent job listing, Microsoft is planning to launch a new version of Windows Phone for this coming holiday shopping season. Microsoftâs job listing states that the company is searching for a software development engineer to work on Windows Phone software. The listing states that “this is a great time to join as weâre completing our current release are getting ready for our next release targeting the holiday of this year.”
The words ânext releaseâ are quite vague and give no clues about what to expect as far as the phoneâs features or any other details its possible that the OS will bring considerable changes, considering that the team searching for a new developer will be responsible for creating the shell, Start screen, and apps, etc.
However the next update is expected to be a major one. considering Windows Phone 7.5, was released in September 2011 and Windows Phone 8 was launched in October 2012.
Previous reports have stated that the next WP release, with codename âWindows Phone Blueâ may bring Kernel updates as well as improvements to its user-interface. This job listing could be hinting at the release of the Windows Phone Blue, but for now, this is just speculation. If this listing is referring to Blue, this may be the the beginning of a rumored annual release for Windows products. So now we wait in anticipation for the next announcement and the holidays to reveal Microsoftâs exact plans.
