When I was a kid, my family really only had one camera that I can remember, and it was a Polaroid. I thought it was awesome and always volunteered to take any photo I could with it just to watch the photo almost instantly develop before my eyes. You didn’t have to go to the photo lab, you didn’t have to develop the prints yourself – all you had to do was push the button and out came the picture, warts and all. I haven’t seen or used a Polaroid camera in years. Thanks to smartphones, many of us no longer have a dedicated standalone camera, and that’s incredibly convenient in a lot of ways, but it’s also a little sad at the same time. With the Polaroid camera, you had a physical picture in your hand mere seconds after you took the picture; with smartphones, you have a photo saved to your Camera Roll/Gallery you can look at anytime, but it’s not quite as easy to print it out at a moment’s notice. But some of that old-time photo convenience could soon be coming to your smartphone thanks to the Prynt case – a smartphone case that basically turns your phone into a Polaroid camera.
All you do is hook it up to your phone (it will be iPhone 5 and up/Galaxy S4 and up compatible) and it will print whatever picture you want it to print within 30 seconds – no more going to the store, no more having to use a separate photo printer to get the job done.
There’s also an app which will let you print Facebook pictures, which is pretty convenient. After all, sometimes you take a picture and want it in your hands right then and there. Prynt is currently in a Kickstarter campaign where they’ve already smashed their original fundraising goal.
What do you think? Is this something you would use? Let us know in the comment section below.
P.S. If you’d like to get an early-bird deal on the Prynt, you can pledge $99 and have one shipped to you sometime this August.
