Malwarebytes 3.0: Faster, Better, Free
AntivirusSoftware Reviews December 14, 2016 Euan Viveash
Malwarebytes 3.0 is here. I won’t lie to you, I’ve always been a big fan of Malwarebytes, and I’ve been looking forward to testing (playing with) the latest version for a while…
…But it has been worth the wait?
Well yes, yes it has.
It may have taken a while, but I’m confident anyone who installs the new Malwarebytes software will be impressed.
While Malwarebytes 3.0 will look instantly familiar and reassuring to current users, it’s a totally different animal from Malwarebytes 2.0 under the hood. Yes, that’s right, the new version of Malwarebytes has been designed and built from the ground up to be faster and more efficient than any version that has gone before.
The big difference with Malwarebytes 3.0 is that now all the different scanning and detection gizmos that were previously different products are now all embedded in the one shell, as it were.
Malwarebytes have always held the key philosophy with their computer detection and protection software, that everyone deserves some sort of free malware protection, and consequently have always endeavoured and (to the best of my knowledge) have always delivered, some of the best real time anti-malware cleaning products known to man.
And to be fair it does have something of a pedigree in this respect. If you were to ask just about any computer repair shop or individual IT tech what programs they have resident on their flash drive for fixing infected computers, then without doubt, Malwarebytes is almost always at the top of their list. It’s generally considered the first and last word when it comes to cleaning a machine when other products fail, and that’s no mean boast.
Malwarebytes 3.0: All in one protection guaranteed. Time to throw out my other anti-virus products?
Yes. And also, no.
One of the great advantages of Malwarebytes has always been its ability to work alongside other products such as McAfee, and Windows Defender. This is still the case, and is highly commendable and admirable. But unless you are going to go premium after the comprehensive free trial, then I might not uninstall all the other ones just yet.
Anyone who installs Malwarebytes 3.0 gets a full premium, no strings attached 14 day ‘open up the throttle and let her rip’ trial of everything it has to offer. And it’s quite a package. You’ll get the full Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware, Website Protection, and Remediation technologies all into a single product that can all be accessed from the clean looking and easy to use interface.
The menu that runs down the side is simple, yet effective and elegant. And most days, you’ll just load it up and click on the large unmissable ‘Scan’ button, and just let Malwarebytes 3.0 do her thing.
And here’s where Malwarebytes 3.0 really impresses. The scan is fast. The company claims it’s four times faster than the previous version, and while, I didn’t get out my stopwatch when I tried it, it certainly was faster on my machines.
So, what does the free version get me?
Another good question. You’re on fire today!
Well, the free version, and remember that key point, free, gets you a product that is still perhaps the most effective malware detective and clean-up operative available, both free and paid. And that’s an important distinction. You can also upgrade to the premium version at any time. So, while the free version doesn’t stop malware from being installed on your computer, it will clean it up as good as any other product out there. And it will do that for free. So why not try the best for free? I mean, what have you got to lose?
And of course, as always, you can download Malwarebytes 3.0 from Filehippo now – for free – with no obligation to buy.
