Microsoft has unveiled its new ‘Your Phone’ app for Windows 10, at its Build developer conference.
The app is designed to provide a mirror of users phones straight onto desktop Pcs running Windows 10, and will let them access texts, photos, and notifications from their computers without having to pick up their phones.
Microsoft reckon the new app will be a distraction killer and help increase productivity around the world.
YourPhone will work by creating a type of TeamViewer-like link interface between people’s smartphones and their Windows 10 computers.
Which OS?
While features will of course no doubt vary depending on whether the phone in question either uses iOS or Android, Microsoft claim YourPhone will mirror more than enough parts of your phone that you may never have to pick up your phone by hand again, whilst your working on your computer.
Microsoft have big plans for YourPhone, but initially, will only allow access to AMS, photos, and notifications.
Direct link
YourPhone will also users to link web pages directly between the two, allowing them to simply pick up a browsing session where you left off when you get home from work. Whether Microsoft will try and force users to use Bing to accomplish this was not made clear.
Windows Insiders
Microsoft has released the YourPhone app to its gaggle of Windows Insiders and is hoping for positive feedback from its testers. Jut when the app will be released for everyone else, is still anybody’s guess, but some have speculated it will be released in tandem with the next major update for Windows 10 later this year. The “Redstone 5” update is set to be the next major update for the teach giant’s flagship operating system, and a raft of updates and new features is expected.
