YouTube confirms that it will display ads when you pause videos
Many users had been complaining that they had seen videos play when they had paused YouTube videos. Well, it is official now. Google has confirmed that YouTube will display ads when users pause videos, and the company has no plans to stop it. The company believes these ads are less interruptive. YouTube says that such ads have seen positive responses from advertisers and viewers.
Users will either need to pay for a YouTube premium subscription, or use an ad-blocker for an ad-free experience. YouTube has been battling ad-blockers rather aggressively over the past year, and even introduced server-side ads, which are injected directly in videos. These caused some minor hurdles for ad blockers, but they have been able to thwart Google’s attempts to prevent them from blocking ads. The bigger problem is that Chrome has ended support for Manifest V2 extensions, which has stopped uBlock Origin and similar content blocker add-ons to work in the browser.

Photos app could be the reason why your Windows 11 PC is slow
Is your PC running slower than usual? The culprit could be the Photos app. Users say that the app has been autostarting with Windows 11, though this is yet to be proven. The reports claim that the app slows down the system, when it starts, and is not even needed by the user. The Photos app has gained several AI features over the past year, and is now slower to launch. The new version of the app, which moved from UWP to Windows SDK, was released in June. It is expected to ship with Windows 11 24H2, but is also coming to Windows 10 PCs.
Windows 11 24H2 feature update release date revealed
The Windows 11 24H2 feature update has been a hotly discussed topic for a variety of reasons. But when is it releasing? The answer is sooner than you think. Microsoft plans to release Windows 11 24H2 in late September, for users as an optional non-security preview release. It will be released for all other users in the first half of October.
Windows 11 24H2 brings support for Wi-Fi 7, sudo support for Windows, energy saving improvements, and of course AI features. The update will remove three legacy apps: Cortana, Tips, and WordPad. It is possible that Microsoft could introduce Windows Recall, the controversial AI app, which captures the contents of your screen every 5 seconds, and converts the data into a searchable format to assist you in finding them.
Is Tor no longer secure?
The anonymous network service Tor, which is widely used across the world, is reportedly not safe to use. Reports say that officials in Germany have been monitoring Tor servers for many months to track and identify users, using Timing Analysis. This is a method that is used to monitor several Tor nodes to identify users.
The law agencies were successful in their attempt to identify a server that had been used by a ransomware group called Vanir Locker. The officials then took over the Tor address and prevented the cybercriminals from releasing the stolen data. However, this incident has raised concern over the safety of Tor, and how it could be used by other Governments to track activists.
