GTA 6 gets a new trailer, and smashes viewership records

Rockstar Games released a new Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer this week, and it didn’t stop there. The New York based gaming giant also published a special page on its website to highlight the various characters in the game, along with the map of GTA 6. To say it is incredible is an understatement.

GTA 6 gets a new trailer, and smashes viewership records

GTA 6’s map spans 6 regions across the state of Leonida, which is a fictional version of Florida. The regions include fan-favorite Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. The protagonists of the game are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Jason is an ex-army man who got mixed up with the local drug trade in the Keys. Lucia is an ex-con who wants to turn her life around. Jason meets Lucia during a failed heist, and their lives become entwined in a narrative that players will follow through the campaign.

They will engage with NPCs like an online conspiracy theorist called Cal Hamption, and Boobie Ike, a street thug turned local entrepreneur/crime lord. Dre’Quan Priest, a former street hustler turned singer, and Raul Bautista, a professional bank robber. There is also Brian Heder, a notorious kingpin. Fans were impressed by the graphics of GTA 6 highlighted in the video trailer.

The trailer also smashed a few viewership records. Rockstar revealed that the trailer was watched by 475 million viewers across platforms on the day the video was released. It also became the fastest video to hit 1 million likes on YouTube, and only took about 40 minutes to reach the landmark. Gamers are clearly hyped up for GTA 6, which releases on May 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.

Windows 11 is adding AI agents that could actually be useful

Microsoft is adding AI agents to Windows 11 which allow users to ask the AI to change some Windows settings. The best part here is that users can use natural language to communicate with AI. For example, you could ask it to increase the font size on Windows, or disable the Copilot icon on the taskbar, or ask it questions like “how to control my PC by voice”, or “my mouse pointer is too small”. The AI agent will display the right steps you can take to address the issue. If you give it permission, the AI agent will even apply the settings automatically.

These features are currently available for Copilot+ PCs, and they could be useful for users who are not tech-savvy, or even for power users who don’t want to navigate through multiple menus and screens to change a setting manually. The news has had mixed reactions from users, with some calling AI agents useful, while others raised questions about their privacy.

Google Chrome adds local Gemini AI for Scam Protection

Microsoft isn’t the only one adding AI to desktop platforms. Google has brought an AI feature called Scam Protection to help protect Chrome users from scams on desktop and Android. The new feature is being integrated into Chrome’s Enhanced Protection mode on desktop. Users will need to enable Safe Browsing mode, which will add an extra layer of security that is powered by Gemini Nano’s on-device large language model. Google claims that the Scam Protection AI provides instant insight on risky websites, even against scams that haven’t been seen before. It will also detect remote tech support scams and block them.

On Android, Chrome will use an on-device machine learning model to detect notifications that could be a spam. When it detects a dangerous notification, it warns the user about the scam, and offers an option to unsubscribe from the website to prevent further notifications.

Google says that it has also extended a Scam Detection feature in Google Messages and Phone by Google (the dialer app), to detect if a call or message is from a scammer. This on-device AI-powered feature will warn the user about the scam, after which users may report and block the sender or caller.

Apple to add third-party AI search engines in Safari

While we are discussing AI, here’s one more topic that made headlines this week. Apple’s Senior Vice President, Eddy Cue, testified in court during the U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust lawsuit against Google. Cue revealed that the number of web searches on Safari have dropped for the first time. This was likely due to the rising popularity of AI search providers and chatbots. Even more surprisingly, Cue confirmed that Apple is planning to add AI Search options in Safari, and that his company had been in talks with Open AI, Perplexity, Anthropic, etc., to find right partners to work with. These third-party AI search engines could be added in Safari soon.

Meanwhile, Google has denied the claim that its web search usage is dropping. A statement on the Mountain View company’s website claims that Google’s numbers are rising. This is not the first time this claim has been questioned, recent reports indicate that Google was losing its users to Microsoft Bing, possibly because of Copilot AI.

Microsoft is making yet another controversial change to Windows Search

Windows 11 is introducing a new way to download apps from the Microsoft Store. Users will soon be able to use Windows Search to just type the name of the app they want, and click on the “Get” button to install the app. This feature will be available from the Windows 11 Start Menu, and also works via the search box on the taskbar. You don’t even have to open the Microsoft Store, the app you wanted will be installed in the background.

While this may help users in discovering new apps, this method comes with its own set of problems. The search result only displays the app’s description and logo, it does not reveal the permissions used by the app. It is advisable to use the Microsoft Store to download apps, as you can verify the authenticity of an app by its listing, developer information, etc.

Giorgio Sardo, Vice President of Microsoft App Store & Apps, has revealed that the search experience to install apps will be rolling out to users soon. Users have reacted negatively to the feature, criticizing Microsoft for modifying the Start Menu with bloated features.
