Speed Up Your PC Performance

Ever noticed that your computer tends to drag? You have the right hard-drive space and you even have RAM, but your computer is not running at its best. Unfortunately, the computer repair guys will just tell you to upgrade, but before you spend the extra money on a new computer, consider these tips for helping your computer run at its best.
Running Applications
One of the biggest reasons a computer moves slowly is because of the applications running in the background. No matter how upgraded your PC is, there are only so many resources available for your computer to run applications. The apps constantly running in your system tray may be the culprit for your slower system. To clear this up, pay attention to what is running and avoid opting to install every accessory component just because it is offered. Skim over the icons in your system tray that are running in the background. If you do not need them on, go into the system settings and turn them off. You will be surprised at how much faster your computer runs just by performing this quick and easy step.
Keeping Free Disk Space
In order for your PC to run efficiently, it needs disk space. If you happen to be running a large iTunes library or you have a graphic design program installed, you are going to run out of disk space relatively fast. Consider storing your files on a USB or cloud storage account rather than your hard drive to keep disk space available on the higher end.
Don’t Forget Maintenance
When you purchase a PC, you most likely do not consider the maintenance that you need to perform in order to keep it running at its best. A PC, just like your car, needs routine maintenance – only it needs it a lot more often. Some items you should routinely do to keep your PC running include:
- Running Disk Check once per week
- Running Disk Cleanup once per week
- Running Disk Defragmenter once per week
- Cleaning out encrypted webpages from your browser
- Cleaning out browsing history or reducing the amount allowed to store
- Updating your Windows regularly
- Running a full-system anti-virus and anti-spyware scan once per week
Or you could just use a system optimization tool like CCleaner to do this for you.
