It’s no stretch for me to say that I was a huge Ghostbusters fan when I was a kid. I had all the figures, I had my own Proton Pack, I even had the Firehouse playlet. I can even remember playing one of the Ghostbusters games on the Super Nintendo. Apart from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, pretty much everything I owned was Ghostbusters related. As a kid, I only really knew about the cartoon series, but as I got older and watched the actual live-action movies, I immediately loved those too. The last installment, Ghostbusters 2, was first released to theaters on June 16th, 1989 – 25 years ago. That’s a long time. Thankfully, it’s been announced that there is a reboot in the works – and this time, it’s going to be a mostly all female cast. That’ll definitely put a different spin on things.

Paul Feig, who directed Bridesmaids, is said to be stepping into the director’s chair, while the original director, Ivan Reitman, will serve as a producer. Katie Dippold (who helped write for The Heat) will help out as Feig’s co-writer. All we know for now is that the movie will be funny and will feature hilarious women, according to Feig.

It’s unknown as of now if Dan Aykroyd or Bill Murray will have a spot in the film, but here’s to hoping that they do!
