Out of all the Android Wear smartwatches, the Moto 360 has been by far the most well received. The circular display and premium build differentiate from the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live, less interesting options.

One of the biggest complaints on the Moto 360 is the battery life, comparing it to the Pebble, Motorola’s smartwatch only manages a few hours before going off. This can become even worse if users dim their screen instead of turning it off, or use the smartwatch extensively.

Luckily, it looks like there has been a fix to the low amount of battery life, in a new Motorola patch. The patch apparently doubles the Moto 360 battery life, stepping it up to almost a full days use, with the appropriate settings. Users of the Moto 360 have verified this claim. Battery life will still depend on how much you use the smartwatch, with some heavy users still claiming they cannot get through the day, without having to charge the smartwatch.

Motorola is committed to making the Moto 360 a more usable device, after two patches, there have been a lot of bug fixes and upgrades to performance and battery life. On the software side, more watch-faces and apps have been added to Android Wear, to keep users interested.

The question of whether smartwatches are necessary will remain relevant in 2015, with the Apple Watch and more Android Wear partners working on intuitive and premium designs, to really break out of the mold that wearables are a niche market.
