We live in a day and age where many people are concerned with “going green”. Many are concerned with solar energy, hybrid cars, and making a lot less of a carbon footprint. Many are also concerned with conserving water and not just wasting it down the drain because we can. It’s easy to turn the faucet off when you’re brushing your teeth or making sure you’re not wasting water while watering your garden, but what else can be done? Well, according to a couple of students from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, they are convinced that we can save a ton of water just by skipping a visit to the toilet when we wake up in the morning. No, they’re not proposing that we have to hold it until lunchtime – they’re just asking that we hold it until we get in the shower. Then, once the shower water’s already running, we can let it go. According to their research, they state that they could fill up an olympic sized pool 26 times if the school’s 15,000 students simply urinated in the shower for a year.

If you think like I do, you’re probably asking, “Isn’t that just a little bit unhealthy?” According to their research, the answer is no, because the urine is sterile if the water is flowing. Still, they’re having trouble getting everyone over to their side. Some people think it’s a great idea, while others think it’s disgusting.

Want To Save Water? Urinate In The Shower, Students Say

What do you think?

While it would definitely save water, it would also shave a few seconds off of getting ready in the morning. Maybe we’ll be encouraged to shave (men) and  brush our teeth in the shower while we’re at it. Hey, I’m all for multitasking- what about you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
