-For the first in its history, Tinder has become the top-grossing app in Apple’s online app store, beating the likes of Netflix, Candy-Crush, and other hit apps such as Clash Royale.

The sudden burst to the top of the charts comes straight after Tinder launched a paid-for ‘premium’ feature that allows users to see who has already liked them, before they swipe. Until now, both free users and monthly subscribers could only see matches if both parties had “swiped right” to like each other.

Now you can pay even more money for rejection and have your self esteem ruined automatically.

Going for Gold on iOS

“Tinder Gold” as the new add-on feature is called, was launched on September 4. ‘Gold,’ it has been claimed by Tinder, will save users hours of having to swipe past peoples profiles, apparently.

The “Likes You” feature, which now comes as part of Tinder Gold, claims to speed up the matchmaking process by allowing users to see who swiped right on their profile.

New age dating

Tinder, which only made its debut five years ago, has become synonymous with the smartphone and dating. What’s really impressive however is the size of the user base, given that Tinder is now part of the establishment, and the stiff competition it faces from other competitors such as Bumble, The League, and Happn, to name a few.

Tinder Gold was described in a blog post by the company as a “members-only service, offering our most exclusive features: Passport, Rewind, Unlimited Likes, five Super Likes per day” and more.

Tinder claims that 1.6 billion profiles are swiped per day and 26 million matches are formed every day.

Sorry Android, Tinder swiped left…

A the time of writing, Tinder Gold is only available for iOS devices, but an Android enabled version is due to swipe right soon in the Google Play Store.
