I’m a pet lover. Memories of childhood almost always includes a menagerie in the background. As an adult, however, I have had to rein in my love of pets, simply because I cannot really afford to take care of one. Not to mention the problem of “who’s going to take care of the dog while I discover the world”?
My reasons, however legitimate I think they are, have not stopped others from owning as many pets as they want; and for those people, DogVacay provides a really cool solution.
DogVacay is a startup based in LA and is the pet project of husband and wife Aaron Hirschhorn and Karine Nissim Hirschhorn. They are, quite obviously, pet lovers; and the company was conceptualized to answer a need that the couple has faced often enough.
The idea behind DogVacay is much like Airbnb, except that the target audience is man’s best friend. Much like you would check out Airbnb for accommodations for your trip, you can check out DogVacay for qualified and reliable people to take care of your pet/s while you’re away.
Using DogVacay’s playfully designed web site, you only need to take three steps to find accommodations for your dog.
- Find the perfect host.
- Schedule and book.
- Go away on your trip without worrying about your dog. (Well, worrying is up to you, but at least you have the assurance that someone qualified is taking care of your pet.)
