If you’re tired of tapping in a pass-code to protect your iPhone and keep it secure, Brian White, Apple analyst at Topeka Capital, has some news for you!
He became the latest member of the Apple Rumour Mill to discuss why fingerprinting Biometric technology may be coming to the iPhone 5S/6
White was quoted as saying for Business Insider: “Our research suggests that users will simply place their finger on the home key of the iPhone 5S and this will automatically unlock the device, nullifying the need to enter a four-character Apple ID Password”
If you remember way back in July 2012, Apple purchased a small security firm called AuthenTec. AuthenTec has done a good deal of research on fingerprinting technology and Apple’s purchase of the company stipulated that AuthenTec was no longer allowed to license out its technologies to other companies. This has led many to believe that Apple is making it an exclusive feature of its products.
Although Brian White has recently added fuel to this rumour fire, this information isn’t really new as Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicted fingerprint hardware for the “iPhone 6” five months ago in January 2013.
Although he is often trying to anticipate Apple’s next moves, Brian White doesn’t have the best prediction history. As the Huffington Post noted last year, White has wrongly predicted the iPad Mini’s release date, among other things; however, he did get the iPhone 5’s release date right, so his information can’t be that bad, can it?
If you’re an avid Apple fan like me, you just can’t wait for WWDC 2013 to kick off in just a few days time. Apple will, no doubt, clarify issues a great deal and shed some important light on future products and services.
