No matter how cliched the phrase is, we know that kids these days have it so good; so good that they have practically everything at their fingertips. The technology that we used to think of as futuristic back in the day is now available to them, and at reasonable costs. Samsung is, of course, not overlooking this lucrative market of kids’ products, and they are releasing the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids on November 10.
Not that there is any lack of tablets for kids. Even “real” tablets that adults use for work and play can be used by children, especially with the plethora of apps designed for this demographic. There are also an array of choices when it comes to accessories that protect the tablets and make them more suitable for the use of those little hands.
Samsung has gone one step further, however, by coming up with a specific tablet that your kids can call their own. No more having to share your iPad or Galaxy Tab and receiving them with smudgy marks all over the place. No more having to keep a close eye on the kids as they play with the tablet.
With the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, you are sending a clear signal that you believe that such devices are integral to the lives of this young generation. Of course, there are schools of thought that feel strongly against that, but I have always believed that the children of today see devices differently as we do: gadgets are not mere extensions of their lives, but are in fact inherent elements.
Anyhow, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids comes with a case that protects it from the inevitable bumps and falls. On the hardware side, it is basically the Galaxy Tab 3:
- a 7-inch, 1024×600 screen
- a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 8GB of storage plus a MicroSD card slot
- a 3MP rear camera
- Android 4.1
On the software side, it comes with the option of operating as a full tablet or as a strictly regulated device. That gives non-kids the freedom to make use of the tablet whenever it’s free.
Pre-order starts today, with stores (Best Buy, Fry’s, Office Depot, Sam’s Club, Tiger Direct and Toys “R” Us) having the units on November 10. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will go for $299.99. Visit Samsung for more details.
