The telecom industry has never been as competitive as it is now, and its players vie hard and fast for our custom. We know that they have employed all sorts of stunts and tactics to gain new customers, as well as retain them, and as we start a new year, AT&T is playing hardball with T-Mobile. The stunt? A simple “switcher credit” offer.

AT&T To Offer $200 Credit To T-Mobile Subscribers

If you’re a T-Mobile subscriber, you can earn a $200 credit from AT&T IF you switch to the larger carrier. On top of this, you can also get up to $250 if you trade in your existing smartphone. The “up to” depends on the value of the smartphone you are trading in.

If you think about it, the strategy is nothing new. In fact, some say that this move by AT&T is a pre-emptive strike against T-Mobile, which is supposed to be launching exactly the same thing – incentives for AT&T customers. Talk about warfare!

AT&T

AT&T’s official press release states that the offer is time-limited. It also emphasizes that their network is larger and more reliable than its competitor:

In addition to a larger and more reliable 4G LTE network, T-Mobile customers who switch to AT&T will benefit from a superior smartphone line-up and award-winning customer service.  With AT&T, customers can take advantage of AT&T’s new Mobile Share Value plans, which offer data and unlimited talk and text starting as low as $45 per month with no annual contract.** AT&T NextSMoffers customers the chance to upgrade to a new smartphone every year for $0 down.

Of course, the fine print will definitely be there (including the credit being made available on or before the third billing after making the switch), but the offer does sound tempting, doesn’t it?
