Summer is fast approaching and all attention should be turning to holidays. Rather than just speaking slower and louder to the poor residents of your chosen destination, why not wow the locals with your language skills. I’ve picked out the top three translation apps for Android, which will hopefully get you started and help you learn the essentials, even if it is only to ask for “two beers please”!
Google Translate Android
Google Translate is perhaps the most renowned translation services, perhaps because it supports 80 languages. You can say words or phrases as well as use text input. It is also possible to take a picture of text and the app will translate it for you. An added feature for those of you that are running Android 2.3 or above is the offline function, which enables you to translate on the go, without the need for an internet connection - a must if you are on your travels.
Are you an Apple fan rather than Android? Then check out my recommendations for translations apps on iOS.
