If you’ve been holding out to get your hands on an iPhone 5c or an iPhone 5s, there really has never been a better time than now. With September 9th and Apple’s big announcement just around the corner, it seems many stores are shuffling their inventory to make room for the highly-anticipated iPhone 6. Walmart has just announced that you’ll be able to purchase an iPhone 5c for a whopping $0.97 – yes, you did read that right – a whole ninety-seven cents. It costs more to get a McDouble at McDonalds than to get yourself an iPhone. If this doesn’t cause one to believe they’re trying to get rid of inventory so it can be replaced with something else, I don’t know what will.
The iPhone 5c isn’t the only Apple product Walmart is discounting, though – they’ve also shaved $20 off of the price of the iPhone 5s, bringing it down to $79.
While those are undoubtedly great prices on good phones, you’ll want to keep in mind you’ll still have to sign a new 2-year contract if you’re going with AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, or U.S. Cellular as your carrier.
If you don’t have to have Apple’s latest offering, either of these phones will make a decent smartphone, especially for someone with a tight budget. Or, maybe it’s a good time to get your kid that smartphone they’ve been wanting.
