OK, so we have Smart phones and Smart fridges. But Smart shoes? C’mon! Lechal shoes (named after the Hindi phrase “take me along”) are removable insoles which are bursting with technology; the insole in each shoe contains a battery and a Bluetooth transmitter. The charge on the battery will hold for three days of use.
Once you have connected your smart shoes to your iPhone, Android or Windows Phone, you can start the Google Maps app, find where on earth you want to go and get directions. From there, you don’t need to look at your phone again! Now whenever you need to alter direction, each shoe will vibrate when you have to turn either left or right.
Looking at a map is last year’s style and listening to directions is so last month! Keep up to speed with a pair of Smart shoes. The Lechal shoes are able to count how many steps you’ve taken and calories burned. It will also measure the distance you have travelled. The insoles are removable and they have got an anti-bacterial coating. as mentioned the battery will last 3 hours on a charge and the battery is easily rechargeable ( it just slides out of the insole, and slots into the charger). There is also a nifty feature too; If you click your fingers you will receive an auditory report of the charging status.
The price is £80. Currently there is no firm release date beyond September.
