Microsoft Furthers Research into RoomAlive

RoomAlive is still a research project, but the decision to change the name to RoomAlive could indicate that Microsoft is going to be using the product in the future.

This technology could be a step in the right direction for VR as units like the Oculus Rift completely covers the user’s eyes so they have to mainly sit down to use the VR headset.  But on the other side of the coin, RoomAlive still has a few issues to overcome, namely the price; A HD projector could cost almost $600 and that’s not including the $49 V1 Kinect, motor control and RoomAlive software package. The whole set of could cost $1,000. To put that in perspective, an Xbox One costs $499.
