Have you ever needed an easy to use media player? We are sure you have. Like most users, the option of a lightweight program combined with a simple UI is a must. Media Player Classic Home Cinema is a media player for Windows, which provides simple unobtrusive video playback. Although there are plenty of media players available, this free utility is both light-weight and simple to use.
Main features include:
Built-in codecs for MPEG-2 video. Built-in codecs for LPCM, MP2, AC3 and DTS audio. Improved MPEG splitter that supports playback of VCDs and SVCDs using the VCD, SVCD or XCD Reader. AAC decoding filter making MPC suitable for AAC playback in MP4.
The following updates have been undertaken in this latest version of Media Player Classic Home Cinema:

- DVB: Show current event time in the status bar.
- DVB: Add context menu to the navigation dialog.
- Add Finnish and Serbian translations.
- Enable âPropertiesâ dialog for DVD and DVB playback modes.
- Support MediaInfo analyse for DVD.
- Add tool tip in the âOrganize Favouritesâ dialog with path of the item.
- Keep history of recently opened DVD directories.
- Internal LAV Video Decoder: Support Cinepack and QPEG in low-merit mode.

Changes:
- DVB: Improve channel switching speed.
- The âPropertiesâ dialog should open faster being that the MediaInfo analysis is now done asynchronously.
- Make double-click tolerance consistent with system settings.
- Execute âonceâ after playback event when playlist ends, regardless of the loop count.
- Text subtitles: âopaque boxâ outlines will now always be drawn even if the border width is set to 0. The size of the text is independent of the border width so there is no reason not to draw that part.
- Position the text subtitles relative to the video frame by default.

- * DVD playback could fail with an error related to copy protection on some systems.

- Unrelated images could be loaded as cover-art when no author information was available in the audio file.
- Text subtitles: âopaque boxâ outlines were scaled twice.
- DVB: Enabling the âInformationâ panel using the âInfoâ button on the âNavigationâ dialog would reduce the size of the main window when hiding the panel from the âViewâ menu.
- DVB: The content of the âInformationâ panel was lost when changing the UI language.
- The âChannelsâ sub-menu was not translated.
- Some context menus werenât properly positioned when opened by App key.
- Text subtitles: Fix a crash in case of memory allocation failure.
- True/False strings were not translated in value column on advanced page.
- Fix RealText subtitle parsing: the parser did not work at all and could even crash.
- Improve the behaviour of MPC-HC when doing the MediaInfo analysis when playing from an optical drive. Playback will now be paused during the analysis to avoid concurrent accesses to the disk that might hang playback.
- Lock the player when the scan dialog is opened. Double-clicking on a media file will always open a new instance of MPC-HC in this case. This avoids interrupting the scan accidentally and fixes the issues which used to arise when doing that.
- Remove the information corresponding to the previously playing channel during the DVB scan DVD playback could stutter on some systems.
