We should’ve known that drones were going to find a way to take over the world. While there are all kinds of uses for drones, I have to admit I never thought “circus entertainment” would be one of them, but it has been announced that Amsterdam Arena will hold the world’s first ever “drone circus” at a date in the not-too-distant future. Just what is a drone circus? Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like it’d be – people gather to watch drones perform all kinds of stunts and acrobatics.
Here’s part of the official description for the first event of its kind, appropriately titled “Air”: “In this high-energy and explosive show, drones will take centre stage to bring a collaboration and fusion of music, video, projections and special effects… Air allows you to experience a variety of ballet and battles, races and lasers, circus, illusions and most of all magic from hundreds of drones.”
Wait, did that just say ballet? Apparently drones can do a whole lot more than I’ve been giving them credit for. If the event video trailer is any indicator, though, it’s going to be pretty exciting. You can view the video below:
I have to honestly ask, though – who would’ve guessed drones would be providing our entertainment in the future?
Would you pay money to watch something like this?
