Spotify Premium is a great service. The ability to listen to (almost) anything I want at anytime is amazing. Where I used to spend tons of money on CDs every month, now I spend $10 and have so much more in my catalog (Albeit I don’t “own” any of it). With so much music to listen to, though, sometimes I wonder what the song lyrics are – and as of right now Spotify can’t help me very much, whereas my Amazon Prime music app displays the lyrics to almost any song I play. Within the next couple of weeks, though, Spotify Premium is getting a lyrical upgrade, at least on the desktop version of the streaming service. This is certainly welcome news for anyone who wants to sing along with their favorite songs but honestly haven’t a clue what most of the words are.
This update is coming thanks to a little help from Musixmatch, a database that supposedly holds the most song lyrics on the web, and is expected to roll out within the next couple of weeks.
If you find yourself listening to a song and what to know exactly what the words are, it apparently won’t be too hard to find out. All you’ll have to do is press the button labeled “lyrics” right next to the play button(s) and the words will pop up on the screen for you to follow along with.
