Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sweeps the awards at The Game Awards 2025

The Game Awards 2025 was held this week, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was the star of the show. The game, which was developed by Sandfall Interactive / Kepler Interactive, won a record number of 9 awards, including the grand crown of Game of the year. The other categories which it won were: Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, Best RPG, Best Score and Music (Lorien Testard), and Best Performance (Jennifer English).

The Best Sim / Strategy game award was handed to Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles. Hades II won the Best Action Game award. Hollow Knight:Silksong took home the Best Action / Adventure award. Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Bananza was given the Best Family game award, while Mario Kart World won the Best Sports / Racing award. Arc Raiders was named the Best Multiplayer game.

Battlefield 6 won the Best Audio Design award. South of Midnight won The Games for Impact award. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves won the award for the Best Fighting game. Unsurprisingly, Grand Theft Auto VI won the category for the Most Anticipated Game. The Players’ Voice award went to Wuthering Waves.

Despite their popularity, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Ghost of Yotei did not win a single award that they were nominated for.

Several new games announced at TGA 2025

While the awards ceremony was interesting, the announcements for new games were mind-blowing. Baldur’s Gate 3 was a massive success for Larian Studios. The Belgian company, is returning to familiar grounds with its next game. It revealed Divinity, which is the third iteration in the Divinity Original Sin series.  Remedy Entertainment announced Control: Resonant, as a sequel to the 2019 game, Control. Resonant will be releasing in 2026.

Lara Croft fans have two reasons to celebrate, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst were announced. Legacy of Atlantis will release in 2026, and will feature various biomes from the jungles of Peru, the ancient ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt and the mysterious island of Atlantis, somewhere in the Mediterranean. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is set in Northern India, the game will be released in 2027.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, by Traveller’s Tales will be released on May 29, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and Series S. The open world game is set in Gotham City, and will feature an ensemble of characters from the Batman comics, and movies.

Sega and Creative Assembly are working on Total War: Warhammer 40,000. This is the first sci-fi game in the strategy franchise, and will see players take command of the Space Marines, Orks, Aeldari and Astra Militarum, in a bid to conquer their enemies. The game will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Star Wars: Fate Of The Old Republic, was announced by Arcanaut Studios, it is a spiritual sequel to the popular KOTOR action RPG games. It wasn’t the only game set far, far away in the galaxy that was unveiled during TGA 2025. Star Wars: Galactic Racer by Fuse Games was also teased during the show. Team Ninja revealed the latest iteration in its popular soulslike series, Nioh. Nioh 3 will be launching on February 26, 2026, on PS5 and Windows.

Crunchyroll to end its free-ad supported tier next month

Crunchyroll is set to end its free plan next month. The popular anime streaming service, which is owned by Sony, will transition to a premium-only platform starting January 1, 2026. It is unclear why the company is killing the free plan, but speculations suggest that the ads weren’t profitable.

The news is sure to disappoint free users. Crunchroll’s paid plans start at $7.99/month for the ad-free Fan Plan. The Mega Fan plan, which costs $11.99/month, supports streaming on up to 4 devices simultaneously, lets you watch videos offline by downloading them, and has some free games for mobile devices. The Ultimate Fan plan allows streaming on 6 devices simultaneously, and some other bonuses.

It remains to be seen whether the streaming service will introduce ads on its basic plan like other platforms do.

Adobe Photoshop, Express and Acrobat are now available in ChatGPT

Adobe has brought three of its most popular apps to ChatGPT. Users can now access Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express and Adobe Acrobat directly in chat. First, you will need to connect the apps from ChatGPT’s setting. It’s worth noting that connecting to Adobe Express requires signing in to an Adobe account, while Photoshop and Acrobat can be used without an Adobe account.

Accessing the tools is simple, you just need to mention the tool’s name, followed by a prompt that describes what you want it to do. Photoshop in ChatGPT lets users edit photos that they upload, and tweak the modifications if required. Adobe Express for ChatGPT can be used to create stylish invitations from templates, that can be customized. Adobe Acrobat for ChatGPT allows users to edit PDFs, convert your images and documents to PDFs, extract text or images from PDFs, etc. The best part is that you don’t need a premium plan to access Adobe Photoshop, Express and Acrobat in ChatGPT. All three tools are available for free users.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released for Switch 2

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2. Bethesda Softworks has continued its tradition of porting the hit open world RPG to newer platforms, since the game’s original release in 2011. While the new version comes with improved visuals, things are not particularly great, as fans who bought the game soon found out.

Players have criticized Bethesda for multiple performance issues that are affecting the gameplay of Skyrim on the Switch 2. Users are reporting that the port suffers from input lag, and have pointed out that the game runs at 30 frames-per-second. This is particularly odd, given that the console is powerful enough to run modern titles like Cyberpunk 2077 at 40 fps. Another complaint was that Skyrim on Switch 2 weighs 53GB, that is very hefty compared to the PC version, which is about 15GB on PC.
