Good news – starting on June 9th of this year, gamers will be able to purchase an Xbox One for $399. While that is still quite a bit of money for some folks to justify spending on a gaming system, one can’t argue that it’s not a better price than the original $500 price tag. It’s a good day when you can save a hundred bucks! Alas, the price drop doesn’t come without some kind of a sacrifice, though. For that price you will get the Xbox One system minus the Kinect part of it.

It turns out the Kinect hasn’t been as popular as Microsoft thought it might’ve been at its inception. This move may help them move past Sony in the ongoing Xbox One vs. Playstation 4 sales war.

This new Xbox One console will still be able to everything its predecessor can do minus the Kinect function. And, should a gamer choose to purchase a Kinect at a later time, it’ll still be able to be connected to the console.

As to why Microsoft is choosing to offer this option now, it seems according to their statement that they’ve received some negative feedback in the past about the Kinect being a mandatory part of the purchase.
