The new Apple 16 GB fifth-generation iPod touch has just been launched. Although only an entry-level iPod, you can’t go wrong with a price of $199. It is available in 6 different colours. Apple has also reduced the price of its 32 and 64 GB iPod touch to $249 and $299.
The same features are being offered on the 16GB model as the other two; however, the Loop strap will be sold separately whereas, it is offered with the higher capacity models.
So what are some of the features that the $199 model is offering? It has a 5 megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording; there is a 4-inch Retina display; Apple’s own A5 chip; a FaceTime camera; an thin and ultra light anodized aluminium outside; and 6 different colours: pink, yellow, blue, silver, space gray and red.
In October of 2012, the fifth-generation originally came with a $299 price tag however, Apple created a lower-priced silver 16 GB iPod that came without a rear camera, at $229. This new $199 model will replace that other one.
The iPod touch features iOS 7 and has over 200 features like Camera app filters, automatic photo organisation based on time and location, iCloud photo sharing and many others.
The iPod touch needs a Wi-Fi connection or a Mac with a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port, Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later as well as iTunes10.7 or later. If you don’t have a Mac, a Windows PC can be used as long as it has a USB 2.0 port; Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later; and iTunes 10.7 or later.
So if you don’t already own a MP3 player, this may be the best time to purchase one!
