What is holding you back from getting a Retina Macbook Pro? If you are holding back because of price, then you may be glad that you waited. Apple is bringing changes to the prices and specs of their Retina MacBook Pro line. They are lowering the prices of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. For the 13-inch Retina Macbook Pro you can expect to pay $1,499 for the 128GB storage model. The same size Macbook with 256GB of storage has also been reduced to $1,699, and also has been updated to include a 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor.
Apple also made other big change to their Retina Macbook Pro 15 inch model. While the price did not change, it remains at $2, 199, the processor has received a huge upgrade. It now comes with a quad-core 2.4GHz Core i7 processor. Or for the ultimate in the Retina MacBook Pro line, you can now get the 15 inch model with 16GB of RAM and a quad-core 2.7GHz Core i7 processor for $2,799.
The new price cuts from Apple are thought to be at least in part a response to reviews for the Retina MacBook Pro. Many reviews complained about the lack of power of the 13 inch model, when compared to the 15 inch model. Despite the high-resolution 2,560 x 1,600 display, it was thought by some that the Retina MacBook Pro was too expensive. This price change along with the updated processor in the higher end model could definitely drive sales, as consumers are now able to get more MacBook for their money.
The new prices and specs are already in effect. If you aren’t looking for something in the Retina MacBook Pro line, but are still interested in a MacBook, then you may be happy to hear that Apple is also reducing the price of their MacBook Air. The 13 inch model will now be priced at $1,399. If you are ready to start shopping you can get the upgraded MacBooks both in Apple Stores and online.
