HTC has been sending out invitations for its upcoming event scheduled for October 8th. The event, which will be held in New York, has been named ‘Double Exposure’ and now has the rumor mill back tracking. It was originally thought that HTC would use this even to release the Nexus 9 but with a name like that, it’s reasonable to conclude that it’s more likely to feature some new imaging technology.
Bloomberg has reported that HTC is working on 16MP “tube-shaped” camera that will connect to Android and iOS devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Apparently the company has been focusing on video capture technology and simplicity, as well as making it waterproof.
So basically it seems that HTC is developing an action camera, specially designed for smartphones, a GoPro rival that will work with the various mobile manufacturers.
We’ll be following the event closely, so stay tuned for the latest news and releases.
