Apple has officially announced the “Apple Watch”, not the iWatch, at their event in Flint Center, Cupertino. The Apple Watch is the company’s first wearable and is a huge change on the original idea of a “smartwatch”, using a new type of interface for pinch-to-zoom.

No mention of battery life or connectivity, although the Apple Watch does need the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5S or 5C to function. Apple will offer three different “editions” of the watch, two sizes and six different straps, including two metal, two sport, one leather and one 18 karat gold. The Apple Watch will start at $349 and will launch in early 2015.
