Check Out Startups on the Go With the Kickstarter Mobile App
BusinessMobileSoftware Reviews February 21, 2013 Annie
Kickstarter is a great way to get your project ideas out in front of other people. Now more than ever, you can put your project ideas into other people’s hands with Kickstarter’s new mobile app. Perhaps you are looking to get a project funded, or maybe you like to fund innovative projects, or even if you just enjoy looking at other peoples’ creative ideas, the mobile app is a new, more convenient way for you to experience Kickstarter. Users will be now be able to easily access all that Kickstarter has to offer, directly from an iPhone.
Surprisingly, this is the first app created for Kickstarter, even though the company has been around for almost four years. While the app is currently only available for iPhone, it isn’t hard to imagine that it could be available for other devices sometime in the future. The new app is free and can be downloaded from the App store. For those who are already familiar with Kickstarter, the transition to mobile app will be fairly seamless, as the app works very similarly to the web version of the site.
For those who may be unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it is a crowdsourced funding site that allows users to raise money for proposed projects. Projects on the site are diverse, and range from things like proposals for music albums to games to new tech devices. Fundraising goals for the proposed project are set in the amount desired by the user. Like many traditional fundraising models, backers give money, often in exchange for goods, that are given in proportion to the amount of money pledged by the backer. Many projects exceed their fundraising goals, with some recent campaigns even managing to raise millions of dollars through Kickstarter.
The new mobile app allows users to get updates directly from the creators of projects they are backing. The app also features the ability to watch videos about the project. The app provides more convenience for project creators as well, as they can now upload their project videos directly through the mobile app. The new Kickstarter app makes it easier than ever to bring innovative projects into production.
