I don’t know if kidnapping is a legitimate fear for very many people, but as the Boy Scouts say, it’s always good to be prepared for whatever situation may come your way. You’re probably asking yourselves, “How can you ever be prepared against kidnapping?” While you may not be able to always avoid being snatched in the first place, there are some things you can do to help get yourself out of the bad situation. Here’s the first thing you can do: wear a good watch. And it’s not just so you know what time it is every second of the day.
Gearward is selling what they’ve dubbed the anti-kidnapping band. It’s a camouflaged bit of rubber that attaches to any (preferably a black one) watch band. Inside the sleeve are a few small tools which should help you escape from quite a few unfortunate situations where you find your hands bound.
According to Gearband, this anti-kidnapping watch band is good for those who serve in the military, journalists, and foreign aid workers. And, for only $20, it contains just about everything you need to make good an escape, including a universal handcuff key, a razor blade, as well as 4 feet of Kevlar friction saw. These tools are so camouflaged they won’t even go off in a metal detector – they’re made of plastic or ceramic.
This watch band has become so popular lately it is currently sold out online, but their site states more should be available in a week or so.
If you’re curious as to how all of these tools could assist in freeing you, there are how-to photos and videos on the site as well.
What do you think? Will you be ordering one?
