Via email

Once you have signed up for a Pocket account you can post articles straight to your online locker by emailing the links to [email protected]. When you use the service for the first time, you will be asked to confirm your email address, after that the process will work seamlessly. All you need to makes sure is the link you want to save is somewhere within the body of your email and you can only saving one link per message.

With Pocket, if you save a website link rather than an article link, then the link will open from Pocket as a normal Web page. Your articles are presented in a distraction-free layout in a similar way to Instapaper.

Via mobile platform

Good news if you use Android, iOS or an Amazon device as Pocket for Android, iOS and Amazon platforms are available in their respective stores for download. The apps are free to download and install. Again, all you need to do is log into your Pocket account and away you go.

The Android version of the app is the simplest to use; just tap the Share button and you will see Add to Pocket as an option. In some apps, it is ready to use directly in the app. Take Twitter for example, just hold on a tweet in the app and you can save it to your Pocket account. If you are using iOS 7, then you need to get a Pocket-compatible app and the Pocket app as well. If you are using iOS 8 then you can also add Pocket to Safari.

As always, if you would like to leave a sensible comment, then please do so in the comments section below.
