New Spaces app allows for real time collaboration.
For years, Evernote has been one of the worlds most recognized go-to organizational apps for people in all walks of life. From busy corporate professionals to people in highly creative fields–both career-wise and as a side interest or hobby–Evernote has helped keep to-do lists organized and visible across platforms, while also allowing restructuring at the click of a card.
The company has a new announcement, though: the same functionality that keeps your assignments and tasks in order can now be extended to working on a team or with co-creators, and can even be edited in real time. The new app called Spaces, allows people sharing the same tool to view, organize, and even edit information in their shared space.
Retooled Evernote
“A notebook doesn’t work for a team,” said CEO Chris O’Neill in an interview with Forbes. “How do you keep people on the same page, even when it’s not your stuff? We’ve retooled Evernote to be a place to come together and share, where you have a bird’s eye view of what’s going on.”
It’s only logical that Evernote would work to keep up in a space filled with apps like Trello and Wrike. Rather than scrap their existing functionality and risk alienating their long-time users, this revamp allows users to simply expand on what their favorite organizational app can do for them.
Task panes
One of the key shifts in apps like the new collaborative Evernote–and other organization plus collaboration apps–is to move away from the concept of creating a document in a program like Word, then send that document to other people. Instead, the ability to create inside a task pane and port the whole thing to every device you use means streamlining workflow even further, possibly without even realizing it.
Spaces and Evernote are widely available, and the user forum already contains complete discussions on how people use the tools as well as what feedback they have for the developer.
