A new app is making it easier for users to store and access their files across devices.  Younity is essentially your own personal cloud, created for all of your files.  It is a service that makes all of your files available to you on any device.  The unique aspect of Younity is that you don’t need to intentionally sync your files to make them all available to you.  This means you don’t need to plan ahead, or worry about incompatibilities, configuration, or any other type of management.

Younity App Makes Cloud Storage Easier

Younity builds a cloud for all of your files from your devices and from your online services.  This makes it so that all of your devices work as though they are one single device.  In simplifying how users can store and access their files, Younity attempts to tap into a growing need for many users.  As more and more people work and play across multiple devices, Younity has perhaps seen the future of file storage. Through simplifying the user experience, they hope to be able to compete with other cloud storage options that are currently available, including giant iCloud. Younity is totally free and offers unlimited storage. With Younity you don’t need to do any type of configuration.  Moreover, Younity offers security for your files.  All communication between your devices is done over SSL and all file transfers, except for video, are also done over SSL.

Younity, which is currently based in Santa Monica and Boulder, began working on their idea in 2010.  The company received its first patents in October of 2012.  The company has continued to grow and develop and is now a 2013 SWSW Accelerator finalist.  If you want to give it a try, Younity is available for iOS, Windows and Mac.  The app is available for free on the App Store.
