Well, it seems Edward Snowden has even more to say to the world. Even while on temporary asylum in Russia, he is still finding a way to make the news headlines. And this time he decided get his message out there by delivering a message to the UK on Christmas Day. In case you’re wondering what Snowden thinks of everything that has happened as a result of his leaking national security secrets to the press, Snowden believes that his mission is fully accomplished. Does he deserve a pat on the back or the fullest prosecution the law will allow? That’s a dangerous question to ask anymore as it seems everyone has a very strong opinion one way or the other regarding Snowden.

Edward Snowden Sends UK Christmas Message

Merry Christmas From Edward Snowden

So, what kind of Christmas cheer did Snowden decide to spread to the UK? The following series of quotes from the message are as reported by the BBC. It seems Snowden is worried about all of the children who will have to grow up in this world in the future.

“A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They’ll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves, an unrecorded, unanalysed thought…The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both in the technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it…Together we can find a better balance, end mass surveillance and remind the government that if it really wants to know how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying.”

Snowden may be right about the lack of privacy for children in the future. Does that make what he did right? Do the ends always justify the means? Then again, the same could be said for the government’s spying practices. Does protecting the world outweigh the privacy of its citizens? You’ll have to answer that one for yourself. Love him or hate him, the one thing you can’t do for long is avoid Edward Snowden.
