Have you read Steve Jobs’ biography? Many have! Many people are eagerly anticipating the new biopic that is currently in production. However, the untitled biopic based on Steve Jobs’ life, has lost its lead actor, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Directed by Danny Boyle, the biopic will be based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs. Leonardo DiCaprio was expected to play the lead but has recently stepped down, partly to film another movie called The Revenant.
The book is being adapted by screen writer, Aaron Sorkin who also created The West Wing. DiCaprio would have been a potential great Steve Jobs. His previous films have left him with a number of nominations for Academy awards so would have been a great choice.
Sorkin also wrote the screenplay for The Social Network, which made the creation of Facebook into must-see entertainment. Sorkin promises to cover the darker parts of Jobs’ past but includes his successes as well.
Sony will obviously be feeling the sting of DiCaprio’s withdrawal from the film but the studio is still planning to continue, full speed ahead. Rumours are that Matt Damon, Bradley Cooper or Ben Affleck may take his place. Although, a number of other big name A-listers could be considered.
Although DiCaprio was expected to continue in the role of Jobs after filming The Revenant (a film about a frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who goes on a path of revenge against people who leave him after a bear mauling, for dead), DiCaprio intends to take a long break from filming instead.
The Steve Jobs biopic has met a lot of problems since its start. It originally lost its first director, David Fincher in April, when there was an altercation over control of the film occurred between studio heads.
