Surely I am not alone in thinking that the Kindle is a nifty device. I think it still does not hold a candle to the iPad, but I also think that comparing them is not a good idea. After all, when I think of the Kindle, I mainly think of books. When I think of the iPad, I think of so much more. Then again, with Jeff Bezos and his brilliant team doing what they do, the Kindle has gone beyond the world of eBooks. With the upcoming next-gen Kindle Fire HD, it looks like this device is set to harry its competitors.

Next-gen Kindle Fire HD

If you think about it, the older Kindles were not really made to kill the iPad – or even one of the Samsung tablets. That is perhaps one reason that the eReader was very successful in its niche.

It seems that Amazon is not content with sitting in the sidelines anymore, though, and what with tablets being the norm these days – tablets as in mobile devices used to do more than read eBooks – no one should be surprised at what the next-gen Kindle Fire HD is supposed to offer.

The hard truth is that Amazon is lining up THREE new Kindle Fire devices.

New Kindle Fire

For those who love the 7-inch size, the upcoming Kindle Fire is supposed to replace the current one – with a better resolution at 1,280 x 800 pixels. That is a big leap, considering that that is the same resolution as the current Kindle Fire HD!

Next-gen Kindle Fire HD

For even better resolution, the next-gen Kindle Fire HD is the one to anticipate: 1,920 x 1,200 pixels of glorious screen! The size remains at 7 inches, so it should still be very handy to carry around.

Kindle Fire HD 8.9

Firm believer in “bigger is better”? Well, 8.9 inches is not that big, but it sure is one step above the two other Kindles. The new Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is supposed to have a whopping 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, which should satisfy most any tablet user. Even iPad users might just want to take a second look.
